Frequently Asked Questions - Capabilities
What sort of resident is the best fit?
-
Our passion fits best with those suffering from mild to moderate Alzheimer’s’, dementia or other cognitive degeneration because our goal is to help delay the progression of these diseases by using cutting edge methods and techniques focused on keeping the mind stimulated, the body strong, and the sense of purpose and contribution alive. While keeping loved ones home as long as possible may be a good idea in some cases, research shows that unless an individual can stay safe, social engagement is plentiful and their minds and body are still regularly exercised in their own homes, they may deteriorate faster than if they were in an active and caring environment of assisted living
-
Because we are a two story facility, residents with some independent mobility may have a greater opportunity to explore the full 9.000 square foot house. However, the house is equipped with an elevator so even residents with auxiliary aids or wheelchairs can move freely about
What are your care capabilities?
-
Morrison Manor has partnered with Optimal Health and Bloom Healthcare for a variety of services in our home. We can facilitate physical, occupational, speech and behavioral therapies, nursing care and doctor house calls so families can focus on spending their time together.
-
Morrison Manor is not a skilled nursing facility. Just like other licensed assisted living facilities, our care abilities are limited by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment to non-medical personal services and protective oversight – these include, but may not be limited to:
-
24-hour protective oversight
-
Assistance with eating, hygiene, discrete bathing, transferring, toileting, dressing and other Activities of Daily Life as needed
-
Assistance with administration of medications (all staff are Qualified Medication Administration Personnel “QMAP”)
-
Emergency assistance until first responders can arrive (all staff are CPR and First Aid certified)
-
Fulfillment of the Resident’s individualized care plan created in conjunction with medical professionals and family
-
Assistance with writing and mailing letters, making telephone / video calls, and arranging appointments and schedules
-
Keeping residents engaged with customized activities and exercise programs
-
Coordination and communication with Hospice providers such that a resident can stay on site during end of life phase
Frequently Asked Questions - Staffing
What is the experience of staff?
-
Our Administrator has 15 years of experience in the industry, is a Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (“QMAP”), CPR and First Aid certified plus is working on her Coaching Certification using Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care system
-
Our staff has varying degrees of experience, but all are required to have QMAP, CPR and First Aid certifications before being allowed to work independently in the facility. They also have on-going rigorous training requirements
-
Because we specialize in memory case, staff training includes Alzheimer’s, dementia and other specific training geared toward working with cognitively impaired individuals
-
We have three levels of staff titles: Associate Care Provider, Personal Care Provider and Team Lead and pair staff for our shifts according to the needs of the residents.
What is the Staff to Resident Ratio?
-
Morrison Manor schedules our care givers according to the needs of our residents, but offers a higher Staff to Resident Ratio then most assisted living facilities. When full with 12 residents, our lowest Staff to Resident Ratio would be the overnight awake shift with a 1:6. Daytime shifts vary from 1:6 on the weekends to 1:4 during the weekdays.
Do you have a nurse on staff?
-
As a smaller residential assisted living facility, Morrison Manor does not keep a nurse on staff, but we contract with Optimal Health and Bloom Healthcare (fka Physician House Calls) to provide in-house services to our residents to meet nursing/physician needs.

Do you offer day or hourly care?
-
Morrison Manor may be able to provide day care services by the hour depending on the needs of the individual. Depending on availability, hourly care services may not include a private respite room for napping, etc. Because we do not want to take away from the care provided for our monthly residents, pricing is calculated on a case-by-case basis according to the care needs of the individual and ranges $15-$30/hour for up to 10 hours. Day care for greater than 10 hours in any 24 hour period will be treated as Respite Care and cannot be accommodated unless a respite room is available.
